Job Purpose:
The Rheumatology Sales Specialist will be responsible for covering a large territory and will focus on a defined target list of physicians/practitioners within the territory. The Rheumatology Sales Specialist must be able to develop relationships and maintain an active presence in the Rheumatology community, while driving disease awareness, initiation, and usage of Novartis Rheumatology products. The Sales Specialist will initiate and support programs that make a difference to the lives of the patients we serve.

Your Key Responsibilities:
- Build disease awareness with key partners, validated understanding of treatment initiation processes, and patient identification.
- Collaborate with partners, internally and externally, on prior authorization, payor restrictions, reimbursement stipulations, and patient referrals to support patient access.
- Manage sales budgets and grow the Rheumatology sales portfolio across the territory through development of impactful territory planning and engaging communications.
- Employ business planning and local market knowledge to develop sales and customer networks.
- Grow relationships and communications with all partners and communities to develop solid understanding of treatment algorithm and business dynamics within accounts.
- Implement compliant and medically relevant programs to effect significant customer satisfaction and sales.

Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between: Sales Specialist: $97,600 and $146,400/year | Senior Sales Specialist: $118,400 and $177,600/year | Executive Sales Specialist: $130,400 and $195,600/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/23 through 12/31/23, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Minimum Requirements
What You’ll Bring to the Role:
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- 3+ years of successful pharmaceutical sales experience, or 2 years successful experience in a specialty pharmaceutical/biotech sales role within the last 5 years.
- Strong ability to collaborate and demonstrate success working within cross-functional teams, influencing without formal authority in a matrix environment and have shown success selling in a competitive marketplace.
- This is a remote position that will support key accounts in an assigned region. Candidate must reside within territory, or within a reasonable daily commuting distance of 50 miles from territory boarder. Ability to travel 60-80% over a broad geography is required, with the ability to drive and/or fly within the territory. No relocation assistance available. Must have a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous Rheumatology and/or Biologic sales experience with a complex distribution pathway (specialty pharmacy, reimbursement specialists).
Leveling Guidelines:
The position will be filled at level commensurate with experience.
Rheumatology Sales Specialist:
- Internal: Novartis Sales Associate with experience in pharma/biotech sales.
- External: 3+ years of successful pharmaceutical sales experience or 2 years successful experience selling Rheumatology pharmaceutical products.
Rheumatology Sr. Sales Specialist:
- Internal: Novartis Sales Associate with experience in pharma/biotech sales.
- External: 4+ years of experience in pharmaceutical sales.
Rheumatology Executive Sales Specialist:
- Internal: Novartis Sales Associate with experience in pharma/biotech sales.
- External: 8+ years of experience in pharmaceutical sales.
