Job Overview
The Child and Family Therapist provides therapeutic support to children, adolescents, and families through individual, group, and family counseling. They assess client needs, develop treatment plans, and use evidence-based approaches to promote emotional health, resolve family conflicts, and foster positive relationships.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments to understand clients’ emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Provide therapy sessions, including individual counseling, family therapy, and parent sessions.
- Address issues such as trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, family conflict, and behavioral challenges.
- Support families in improving communication, conflict resolution, and parenting strategies.
- Collaborate with schools, social services, and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive approach to client care.
- Maintain accurate and confidential case records, progress notes, and documentation.
- Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Provide crisis intervention and support when necessary.
- Educate families on mental health topics and available resources.
Qualifications
- Education: A Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
- Licensure: Licensed (or working toward licensure) as an LMFT, LPC, LCSW, LLMSW, or equivalent.
- Experience: Previous experience working with children, adolescents, and families in a therapeutic setting is preferred
Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build trust and rapport with clients.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices, such as CBT, DBT, play therapy interventions or family systems therapy.
- Cultural competence and sensitivity.
- Experience working with co-parenting and divorced families.
- Crisis management and problem-solving skills.
Work Environment
- Work may take place in an office, school, community center, or clients’ homes.
- Sessions may be conducted in person or via telehealth platforms.
- Flexibility to accommodate evening or weekend hours based on client needs.
