Radiology Business Manager
JOB SUMMARY:
The Radiology Business Manager has responsibility for registration functions, budgeting, financial forecasting and any other business and revenue cycle operations across the radiology system which includes 10+ locations.
The position has director reports of a Support Services Supervisor, the radiology authorization unit, radiology registration at all locations, and a coordinator.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Staff oversight across multiple sites of services: Working with the Support Services Supervisor, oversees all radiology check-in and/or registration areas to ensure consistent compliance and performance and maximum POS collections. Also responsible for the radiology authorization team to ensure advanced imaging services are authorized timely and correctly, to meet budgeted volume and revenue targets.
2. Training and Staff Development: Ensures staff have strong skill set to perform duties efficiently.
3. Budget Preparation and forecasting: Prepares annual volume and expense budgets for business areas in both the lab and radiology. Monitors expenses for both lab and radiology to ensure budget
4. New Business Planning: Prepares and presents proposals and proformas for business ventures outlining either new or expanded services opportunities
5. Revenue Cycle and Financial Activities:
· Monitors and analyzes radiology insurance denials for trends and root causes and develops action plans to correct common denials within department control. (Example: reduced authorization denials, reduced med necessity denials)
· Reviews new annual CPT code changes and works with the appropriate teams to ensure these codes are built into system
· Actively reviews unbilled accounts and ensures they are being worked in timely fashion – acts as a liaison for revenue cycle/billing and radiology department teams to resolve any coding issues.
· Reviews monthly expense to budget report with Directors to determine causes of variances to budget and reports on this
· Holds monthly meetings with the department leadership team to share department metrics and results
- Customer Service/Patient Satisfaction: Manages customer service and service recovery efforts as needed. Ensures staff are appropriately trained to provide top-notch customer service.
- Project Management – takes a lead role in departmental project management including performance improvements initiatives related to scheduling and/or registration/front-desk initiatives (Overlay reduction), revenue cycle enhancements and/or other performance improvement or system projects as needed
- Contract Management – manages business contracts with vendors as needed
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- 2-5 years of Healthcare Management experience
- Must be knowledge in business operations, revenue cycle and coding
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Care or Business Administration and/or Public Health required
· High level of competency on business management in healthcare setting including business development experience
· Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, interpersonal and public speaking skills are required.
· The ability to work with individuals at all organizational levels, including Executive leadership, peers, team members, other departments, patients, and the community is required.
· Experience with Performance Improvement a plus
· Ability to lead large teams
· Microsoft Office – Word, PowerPoint and Excel skills
· Epic experience preferred
