We are a specialty vaccine company that develops, manufactures, and commercializes prophylactic vaccines for infectious diseases addressing unmet medical needs.
We have leveraged our expertise and capabilities both to commercialize three vaccines, including the world’s first and only chikungunya vaccine, and to rapidly advance a broad range of vaccine candidates into and through the clinic, including candidates against Lyme disease, Shigella and Zika.
Responsibilities
We are currently looking for a Scientist (m/f/d) to join our Pre-Clinical Vaccine Development Department in Vienna. You will support technical activities in the vaccine R&D process, focusing on the discovery, selection, and characterization of preclinical vaccine candidates. You will apply current science and technology and collaborate with other functions and experts as needed. The role ensures efficient communication between stakeholders and contributes to the business strategy by helping develop pre-clinical vaccine candidates, strengthening the company’s core value and pipeline.
- Transform complex processes into simpler, more effective solutions
- Generate and interpret scientific data with high accuracy and judgment
- Support data review to ensure scientific quality and hypothesis testing
- Train and mentor team members in scientific techniques, facilitating efficient workload distribution
- Define and establish new operational procedures and ensure compliance with Level 2 biosafety standards
- Communicate effectively within the organization, prepare internal scientific documents and present the results internally
- Participate in scientific discussions (publications, external lectures, etc.) as well as publications and presentations
- Recognize the impact of scientific topics on the project and create awareness
Requirements
- Postgraduate qualification (PhD, research based)
- At least 2 years of work experience in virology or bacteriology environment
- Scientific track-record evidenced by respective achievements including publications
- Prior experience with the disease targets of Valneva’s key pipelines programs (Chikungunya, Borrelia, and Zika)
- Ability to work across a global organization
- Familiar with project management processes
- Proficient in documentation, manuscript preparation, reports, and presentations
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written

Due to legal reasons, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary for this position, which is € 60.000 gross per year based on full-time employment. However, our salaries are market oriented and in line with your qualifications and experience.
