Responsibilities
- Ensure that all operative procedures are conducted safely, adhering to established protocols and guidelines to protect both patients and surgical staff from any potential harm.
- Play a key role in assisting with the setup for the surgical case, ensuring that all instruments, supplies, and equipment are properly arranged and ready for use in a timely manner.
- Support the surgical team by facilitating the start of the case, coordinating with team members to ensure that all pre-operative checks are completed and that everyone is prepared to initiate the procedure smoothly.
- Maintain a sterile and aseptic environment throughout the surgical procedure, diligently ensuring that all aspects of the operating room are organized and in compliance with strict infection control protocols.
- Assist the surgeon meticulously towards the close of the case, helping with suturing or any other final tasks that may require additional hands-on support.
- Work collaboratively with the anesthetist to expertly prepare the patient for transfer to the Recovery Room, ensuring that all necessary medical information and post-operative instructions are accurately conveyed and followed.
Requirements
- BSN required
- New York RN license/registration.
- One year of Hospital Operating Room experience
- BLS and ACLS from the American Red Cross required
- PALS within 6 months of employment
