Role Overview: Medical Records Coordinator
The Medical Records Coordinator plays a vital role in managing and organizing medical records critical to personal injury cases. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with healthcare providers to ensure timely and accurate documentation. The ideal candidate will be proactive, thorough, and capable of handling sensitive information with confidentiality and precision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Medical Records Management – Request, track, and organize medical records from various healthcare providers.
- Data Accuracy & Organization – Ensure all medical records are correctly entered, cataloged, and securely stored in the firm’s database.
- Record Review & Verification – Assess medical records for completeness and accuracy before presenting them to attorneys.
- Healthcare Coordination – Communicate with medical facilities to resolve discrepancies and obtain missing records.
- Attorney Support – Summarize key medical findings and prepare essential case documents.
Immediate Priorities (Week 1):
- Learn the firm’s medical record management processes and systems.
- Organize and digitize existing medical records for active cases.
- Initiate and track medical record requests for pending cases to ensure timely follow-ups.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience managing medical records.
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and handling confidential patient information securely.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with a focus on accuracy.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and basic understanding of personal injury case documentation.
Preferred:
- Experience working in a legal or medical office.
- Familiarity with legal case management software (e.g., Clio, MyCase) and medical record platforms.
- Exceptional communication skills for liaising with healthcare providers and internal teams.
