Job Summary
The Pharmacist Intern performs a wide verity of technical and clerical duties for the hospital wide unit-dose drug distrubution system and intravenous admixture program. Responsible for maintaing confidential reports, entering, and retrieving data utilizing the computer system, preparing intravenous medication, including but not limited to, hyperalimentations and antibiotics, prefilling patient casette drawers with a 24 hr supply of unit dose medications, procuring and filling requests for pharmaceutical supplies, and delivering supplies to nursing units.
Essential Functions

Reviews medication orders for appropriateness, assesses patient medication regimens, and provides recommendations to optimize therapy.

Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to resolve medication-related issues and improve patient outcomes.

Assists in managing pharmacy inventory, including monitoring stock levels, ensuring timely replenishment, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.

Documents medication dispensing, clinical interventions, and patient education in the electronic health record system with accuracy and completeness.

Ensures compliance with federal, state, and hospital regulations, including handling controlled substances and adhering to infection control guidelines.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Strong understanding of pharmacology, drug interactions, and evidence-based therapeutic practices.

Licenses and Certifications
- BCLS - Basic Life Support required
