The role you’ll contribute:
2/28/22 The Clinical Dietitian works closely with the interdisciplinary health care team to provide nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy that are integrated and compatible with the patient’s medical program goals and objectives. Primary responsibilities include developing and implementing nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy using established standards of care and practice protocol/guidelines; managing resources in a cost effective manner; participating in performance improvement efforts; and maintaining professional competency and skills required for professional practice.

Patient Care: Utilizes hospital policies and procedures to identify patients with nutritional risk and provides expert nutrition assessment.

Evaluates and monitors nutritional status of hospitalized patients ranging from newborn to geriatric populations as well as cultural, religious, and ethnic concerns, using established standards of care

Develops and implements an individualized plan for nutrition intervention in accordance with the patient’s medical program goals and objectives, nutrition prescription, and self-management training.
Documents in the patient’s legal medical record
- Provides appropriate documentation that summarizes the nutrition care plan in the patient’s medical record, including nutrition assessment, diagnosis plan, implementation, and progress toward goals
Nutrition Education: Provides professional nutrition counseling that is age and culture specific.
- Identifies educational needs and provides current, hospital approved, nutrition education that is sensitive to the patient’s learning need, condition, readiness to learn, literacy, hearing language and age
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :

Completion of a didactic program in dietetics and supervised practice program approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics (AND).

Bachelor of Science degree in dietetics, foods and nutrition, or related area required.

One year experience in acute care setting preferred.

Experience using Cerner electronic medical record

Registered dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
-
Florida Department of Health dietitian/nutritionist license
