The role you’ll contribute:
This position is responsible for making sure that the flow of information between departments responsible for patient care is maintained as well as ensuring that the tests and treatments are ordered promptly. Also performs direct observation of cardiac monitoring, interprets rhythms and reports observations to the Registered Nurse, documents rhythm strips on chart and maintains central monitoring system.
The EEG technologist is responsible for providing EEG services to infant, pediatric, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. In addition, the EEG tech performs respiratory care procedures including routine respiratory clinical care, COPD Education, and pulmonary function studies. May perform routine and emergency care for age categories infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
· Maintains patient charts and records.
· Completes 24-hour checks of orders
· Coordinate’s patient admission to the telemetry monitoring equipment.
· Maintains telemetry units and supplies. Ensures that patients are attached to telemetry or hardwire monitors correctly and troubleshoots poor reception.
· Performs central monitoring tasks such as documentation of shift EKG patterns and any changes in patient’s EKG rhythm.
· Reports changes in EKG rhythm to charge nurse.
· Maintains shift-by-shift report on each telemetry patient rhythm status.
· Inputs the necessary charges for patient billing.
· Activates the Code Blue System as directed by nurses.
- Responsible for the delivery of EEG services in accordance with current practices.
· Reports spills, environmental hazards and needed repairs to Facility Management.
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :
Minimum qualifications :
· ECG Course Completion
· Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
· A level of knowledge normally achieved through a EKG Technician program
Preferred qualifications :
· HS Diploma or GED Equivalent
· A minimum of one (1) year, two (2) years for Float Personnel.
· EKG certification (CET) must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
