The role you’ll contribute:
"The Lead Exercise Specialist provides professional fitness services to members and clients based on their health and fitness needs, which includes fitness testing, performing customer service tasks, and assisting members with exercise routines and equipment utilization. Additionally, the Lead Exercise Specialist coordinates/monitors medical memberships (members at higher risk and requiring physician's clearances). The Lead Exercise Specialist cooperates directly with the Wellness Director or appropriate leadership for special task operations.; supervises the duties of the Membership Coordinator if applicable to facility and other exercise specialists; acts as administrator to software and website portals such as the Club Management Software and other partnering programs; performs inventory ordering/control; performs front desk duties; responsible for the quality assurance of member forms; creates new programs and initiatives to increase profit through membership sales/attendance and pro shop sales; assists with marketing campaigns and health fairs; and assists with the LIFE Program if facility has it. They will run the day-to-day operations of the Health Wellness Center or appropriate wellness facility when the Health Wellness Center Director is absent."

Conducts fitness/health assessments for new members who required a physician’s clearance. Refers members or clients to personal physician or AdventHealth facility when necessary based on results of assessment.

Oversees and maintains a high-quality fitness assessment/testing program, which includes the maintenance of fitness assessment equipment and inventory. In addition, he/she communicates with membership coordinator regarding the schedules of fitness assessments.

Coordinates and administers individual exercise program consultations for high-risk members based on current American College of Sports Medicine (“ACSM”) guidelines. Coordinates referrals to and from hospital for appropriate intervention based on Wellness Center guidelines.

Facilitates all medical hold authorization requests of members. Reviews and approves all physician approvals to resume exercising, initiate exercising, or perform testing.

Develops, implements and administers the ‘Exercise is Medicine’ curriculum/program if applicable to facility

Performs the primary duties and responsibilities of a ‘Level 3’ Personal Trainer (Health & Fitness Specialist):
-
Performs fitness test, including cardiovascular and non-cardiovascular testing, body-fat composition, cholesterol screening, flexibility assessment, and exercise program review. Provides consultation to individuals and groups regarding their test results.

Develops exercise prescriptions and programs for members based on their health and fitness needs, specifying fitness equipment and routines.

Provides fitness floor supervision. Provides exercise instruction and explains and demonstrates use of fitness apparatus and equipment. Offers oral instruction to members on fitness technique and recommends corrective adjustments. Observes participants engaged in fitness activities to ensure safety rules and regulations are adhered to.

Provides blood pressure readings for members as necessary.

As requested, leads exercise sessions, that utilize proper fitness techniques based on the most current acceptable and appropriate research and promotes member participation.

Ensures that the fitness floors and equipment are clean and well maintained.

As requested, provides corporate health promotion services, fitness testing, wellness screenings, and lectures on health, nutrition, and fitness.

Provides coverage in any area mentioned above based on the needs of the members and organization.

Stays current with research and trends in fitness through attendance at workshops, reading professional journals and networking with other fitness professionals.

Complete and attend a Health training program and apply to your life.

Must maintain and active lifestyle that reflect a positive approach to health.

Represents the Health Wellness Center in a professional, courteous and enthusiastic manner.

Adheres to all Health Wellness Center and AdventHealth standards, policies and procedures.

Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
-
Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science or a related field, such as, Kinesiology, Kinesiotherapy, Athletic Training, Physiology, Sports Management, Exercise Physiology, Human Performance, Health Science, or Recreation Management/Science Required

Master's Degree Preferred
-
instructing group exercise classes and recognized industry certification Required
-
4 practical, work-related experience Required
-
Exercise testing, exercise prescription and programming skills.
-
A strong understanding of diverse training modalities and applications is essential.
-
The qualified candidate for this growth-oriented position will be extremely punctual, detail oriented, with strong time-management skills and the desire and ability to build trusting and professional relationships with clients.

The communication skills necessary to effectively present information and respond to questions in one-on-one and group situations.

The interpersonal skills necessary to interact with physicians, co-workers, members and clients.

The organizational skills necessary to provide instruction/information systematically and to simultaneously supervise multiple activities.

Strong Communication Skills

Must be proficient with computer programs (Microsoft Office, etc.).

Must be able to read, write, speak, and have good comprehension of conversational English"

Exercise is Medicine Credential Level 1 if applicable to facility

Experience with scheduling programs

First Aid Certification Required and

CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation Required

Additional specialty fitness certifications Preferred

Personal Training certification from ACE, AFAA, NSCA, NASM, or ACSM Preferred
