Molina of Arizona is hiring for a Military & Veterans Liaison in the greater Phoenix Metro area. This position will primarily be remote, however will have occasional meetings and community events throughout Maricopa and Gila counties.
Highly qualified candidates do not have to be Veterans, however, must possess a strong foundation of knowledge of the local programs, systems, and organization for veterans. Candidates must also be knowledgeable on Medicaid and understand the VA system.
Valid Arizona Drivers License along with reliable transportation is required.
Job Summary: Improves health and wellness outcomes for veterans and eligible family members, reducing barriers to care and providing connections to community resources.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Advocates for military veterans and their families to reduce barriers to care; identifies and provides connections to community-based resources such as food, transportation, housing, employment, and other social determinants

Assists veterans and eligible family members in determining benefit eligibility through the Department of Veterans Affairs

Links and facilitates rapid referral and service delivery for veterans in need of care and monitors referral process.

Provides outreach, education, coaching, and assistance to veteran focused programs and organizations with a shared interest in ensuring the veteran community receives appropriate services. Circulates additional information of interest, including best practices, trainings, technical assistance, outreach opportunities, and community events.

Serves as internal subject matter expert (SME) on veteran matters; develops and provides cultural competency training regarding the military and veteran population across all lines of business

Interacts regularly with the provider community, providing training and resources on how to connect with the military and veteran population.

Represents the health plan both internally and externally, serving as an advisor on various advisory councils and collaboratives.
REQUIRED EDUCATION: Equivalent combination of education and experience or Bachelor’s Degree.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
-
Strong knowledge of the veteran affairs systems.
-
Demonstrated experience in working with collaboratives and understanding of how to support and build shared programs.
-
Ability to establish excellent relationships and work cooperatively with individuals, groups, and organizations diverse in mission, composition, function, capacity, and geographic location.
-
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with group facilitation and conflict management.
-
Knowledge and understanding of policy, systems and local programs that impact vulnerable populations and related public funding sources, regulations, requirements, and procedures.

Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
Training & Experience
-
Minimum of five years of experience in human or social services, preferably in a healthcare setting, required.

Proficiency in personal computer operations including MS Office applications required.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
-
Recognized veteran status with honorable discharge from a US military armed service branch strongly preferred.

Knowledge of VA healthcare system and benefits, including knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid strongly preferred.

Experience both in program development and capacity building preferred

Working environment is generally favorable and lighting and temperature are adequate. Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to unpleasant and/or hazardous working conditions. Must have the ability to sit for long periods. Pay Range: $45,390 - $88,511.46 / ANNUAL
