As a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) at Love and Mercy Home Healthcare, you will work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to assist in delivering high-quality rehabilitation services in patients' homes. Your role will involve implementing treatment plans, monitoring patient progress, and providing hands-on assistance to patients as they work toward improving their mobility, strength, and overall physical function. This position is perfect for an empathetic and motivated professional who is passionate about helping others recover in a home healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in Treatment Implementation: Follow the physical therapy treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist, assisting patients with exercises, therapeutic activities, and mobility techniques.
- Monitor Patient Progress: Track and document patient progress, including changes in physical condition and mobility, and report findings to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Patient Education: Provide guidance to patients and their families on exercises, techniques, and lifestyle modifications to support rehabilitation goals.
- Encourage Motivation: Offer emotional support and encouragement to patients to maintain motivation and adherence to the treatment plan.
- Collaborate with Care Team: Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including nurses and physicians, to ensure coordinated care and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Maintain Documentation: Keep accurate records of patient treatments, progress, and any changes in condition in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Travel to Patients: Provide in-home therapy services to patients in the service areas of Dorchester, Roxbury, South Shore, Brockton, Randolph, and nearby communities.
Qualifications:
- Valid and active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in Massachusetts.
- Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience as a PTA, with home healthcare experience preferred.
- Ability to implement physical therapy treatment plans and assist patients with exercises and mobility activities.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Knowledge of physical therapy techniques and a strong desire to help patients achieve their rehabilitation goals.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to patient homes within the service areas.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach with a focus on enhancing patients' quality of life.
