Job Title: Diet Technician
Reports to: Director of Food Services
Required Qualifications:
· Bachelors Degree
· In-depth knowledge of health and sanitation practices
· Proficient with Microsoft Office program (Word, Excel, etc)
· Detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated
· Positive attitude and commitment to excellence
Preferred:
· Experience in high volume meal service
· Experience working with Eating Disorders
· Experience in residential or healthcare facilities
· Interest/experience teaching others about nutrition/cooking
Responsibilities for Diet Technician:
· Meal Preparation
o Prepare and plate breakfast and lunch according to individualized patient menus for up to 13 patients
· Kitchen Cleanliness
o Ensure that kitchen is a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for clients
o Assist with cleaning and disinfecting dishware, countertops, tables and countertops
· Inventory:
o Maintain accurate inventory of food and kitchen items
o Check delivery orders for quality and completeness
o Assist with online ordering from multiple vendors (Peapod, Costco, Sysco)
o Store, restock, and carefully label food and ingredients in kitchen and pantries Check for and dispose of expired items
o Assist with tracking and reducing waste
· Menu and Meal Planning:
o Ensures patient menus comply with each patient’s meal plan
o Able to identify and note allergens
o Ensures all menu related documentation is up to date
o Understanding of meal plan and exchange information to individualize patient care.
· Client Interaction
o Assist Cook and Director of Food Services in planning and implementing twice weekly therapeutic cooking and baking projects with clients
o Assist with reassuring and educating clients who are anxious about food preparation
o Plan meal and snack passes with patients to appropriate their needs
o Orients patients to nutrition rules and expectations in Residential Program
o Assist with conducting and planning Nutrition groups
**Extensive training and ongoing supervision will be provided about eating disorders, food groups, portioning, but prior knowledge on these subject areas is a plus.**
