X-Ray Technologist - Laurel, MD
$80,000 - $104,000 / Per Year DOE
Job Type: Full-Time and Part-Time positions available.
Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate X-ray Technologist to join our team in Laurel, Maryland. The ideal candidate will perform diagnostic imaging examinations, operate X-ray equipment, and ensure the comfort and safety of patients during procedures. This role requires a strong commitment to patient care, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Prepare patients for X-ray examinations, explaining procedures, answering questions, and ensuring their comfort.
- Position patients correctly to obtain accurate and high-quality diagnostic images.
- Monitor patients during procedures to ensure safety and comfort.
Imaging Procedures:
- Operate X-ray equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes.
- Ensure the proper use and maintenance of X-ray equipment, reporting any malfunctions or issues.
- Collaborate with radiologists to ensure accurate interpretation of images.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to radiation safety protocols to protect patients, staff, and self from unnecessary exposure.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials according to regulations.
Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate patient records, including documentation of procedures, patient information, and images.
- Assist in maintaining an organized and efficient workflow within the radiology department.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with physicians, radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
- Participate in departmental meetings, training, and continuing education to stay current with advancements in the field.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology and/or Certification from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
Licensure/Certification:
- Active American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification.
- State licensure in Maryland or eligibility to obtain licensure in Maryland.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is required.
Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience as an X-ray Technologist is preferred but not required.
- Experience in a clinical or hospital setting is highly desirable.
Skills:
- Proficient in operating X-ray and imaging equipment.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift or move patients as necessary.
- May be required to work evenings, weekends, or holidays depending on departmental needs.
- Exposure to radiation and potentially infectious materials, with adherence to safety protocols mandatory.
