Regional Pathologists is a clinical laboratory specializing in pathology and related diagnostics. As a member of our talented team, the MT/CLS Supervisor works under minimal supervision, and is responsible for complex laboratory procedures and handling all types of specimens submitted into the department across the processing tasks assigned.
A candidate with a background either in histopathology or chemistry is preferred. We are looking for an individual with strong people skills and desire to manage a team of 10-15 people. This is a great opportunity to advance on one's career and get a wholesome laboratory management experience.
Minimum education requirement: Bachelor's Degree with a science major.
Job description:
· Perform simple to complex laboratory test assays by following the established departmental protocols.
· Lead specimen processing for histopathology (cutting, grossing, embedding, staining, etc.) and clinical chemistry (urinalysis and automated microscopy)
· Assist Supervisor/COO in overseeing staff technical performance, schedule, and managing daily operations.
· Train entry-level staff to perform histology testing per standard operating procedures (SOPs)
· Lead in a professional and kind manner, promoting the desired company culture.
· Enter data & results via the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
· Prepare clinical specimens for testing and identify specimen related problems.
· Take a main role in performing QC for reagents and chemicals per SOP.
· Review and approve Quality Control and Quality Assurance results.
· Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either, correct the problems or immediately notify the supervisor or director.
· Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specification.
· Assist the COO in ensuring an efficient workflow operation and report any delays or problems that can impact the workflow process to the COO or director.
· Monitor TAT and workflow KPIs
· Assist in preparation of validation documentation for new tests and procedures as required.
· Read and understand all SOPs related to the department and adhere to all rules and protocols.
· Clean & ensure proper maintenance of laboratory equipment.
· Maintain laboratory in an organized, functional state and perform or schedule equipment & instrument calibration/certification, as required.
Other Duties:
· Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of personal information according to HIPAA guidelines
· Effectively resolve common problems or escalate when needed.
· Complete required documentation like QC logs, PM logs, and other departmental forms.
· Recognize and take appropriate action in response to critical values or unusual or unexpected results, and document actions taken.
