Job Description: Occupational Therapist (School-Based Rehab Program)
Location: Bronx, NY
Position Overview:
Join our School-Based Rehab Program as an Occupational Therapist, where we welcome both entry-level and experienced candidates. This role involves working within 1-2 schools with minimal travel required during the day. Therapists are generally assigned to a specific school for consistency, though occasional travel may be needed for evaluations, supervision, or treating additional students at other locations, including their homes. Travel time contributes toward health benefits, safe and sick time accrual (up to 56 hours annually), and overall working hours.
A typical day follows school hours and includes approximately 12 thirty-minute student sessions. Caseloads may consist of around 67 students, with a mix of group (2-5 students) and individual sessions, tailored to each student's needs. This setup ensures meaningful engagement and support for students.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct individual and group therapy sessions.
- Perform evaluations and annual review processes for students with IEPs.
- Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs), if applicable.
- Travel as needed for evaluations, supervision, or additional student treatments.
- Maintain accurate progress notes and communicate effectively with school staff and families.
Compensation:
Experienced Occupational Therapists (1+ year):
- Individual sessions (30 min.): $37.96
- Group sessions:
- G1 (1st student): $34.50
- G2-G5 (2nd-5th students): $17.10
- Home sessions (30/45/60 min.): $52.52/$80.08/$93.00
- IEP holder pay (per pay period per student): $7.50
- Annual review process (per student): $104
- 502/504 sessions (30 min.): $40.04
- Meetings/sick time/hourly rate: $50/hr
- Evaluations: $185 flat rate
- COTA supervision: $5 per student per week
New Graduate Occupational Therapists:
- Individual sessions (30 min.): $36.76
- Group sessions:
- G1 (1st student): $33.50
- G2-G5 (2nd-5th students): $16.10
- Home sessions (30/45/60 min.): $51.48/$79.04/$92.00
- IEP holder pay (per pay period per student): $7.50
- Annual review process (per student): $104
- 502/504 sessions (30 min.): $39.00
- Meetings/sick time/hourly rate: $50/hr
- Evaluations: $185 flat rate
- COTA supervision: $5 per student per week
Raise Schedule:
- Experienced OTs: ~$2 raise after the 2nd school year and after the 5th school year.
- New Grad OTs: ~$1 raise after the 1st school year, ~$2 raise after the 3rd and 6th school years.
Benefits:
- 403B Plan: Available immediately.
- 401K Plan: Eligible after 1,000 hours worked in a year.
- Health and Dental Insurance: BlueCross BlueShield and Delta Dental, available after 3 months’ probation and meeting eligibility.
- Sick Time: Earn 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, up to 56 hours per year.
